PRESS RELEASE
THINKER THINGS IS ON THE MOVE
9/26/09 - After more than three decades in Del Mar, Thinker Things toy store is moving to Solana Beach – just one freeway exit north to the Lomas Santa Fe Plaza early October. Opening its doors in the Flower Hill shopping center in 1977, the family-owned and operated specialty toy store has watched many of its customers grow up and become parents themselves. Their loyal customers consist of first, second, and third generation shoppers.
With a background in primary education, Jane Naisbitt opened the first San Diego-based Thinker Things in Escondido in 1973. The Del Mar location followed in 1977 in the Flower Hill mall and is the last original tenant of the center still in existence. Some of Thinker Things’ success can be attributed to Jane’s knack for knowing just which toys to stock in the store. Her child-like enthusiasm for seeking out the best new toys is never-ending. John Naisbitt, Jane’s son, has also been instrumental in the store’s success. His knowledgeable, fun and friendly demeanor keeps customers coming back again and again.
Both Jane and John were recently inducted to the Toy Hall of Fame for their many accomplishments within and contributions to the toy industry. According to John, Thinker Things will continue to offer a wonderful selection of children’s toys and books in its new location, as well as the excellent customer service we’ve all come to know. The Naisbitts are planning to open by the first weekend of October and have a variety of events scheduled. Call (858)755-4488 or stop by for more information. You can find them between Vons and Pizza Nova October 3rd!
